The field trip

So, we went to the Asian Art Museum as the first field trip of the school year today. We went to see, in particular, the samurai exhibit that they have right now. Mom is making me write an essay here, so here it is.

We went to The Lords Of The Samurai exhibit at the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco as a field trip today. The exhibit is a series of relics from one samurai family, to be exact, the Hosokawa family, to show the life a daimyo, or samurai lord. The family had a crest that consisted of eight small circles surrounding a central, larger one. Most, if not all of the items in the exhibit had the crest on them.

Of the items there, one thing that really caught my eye was a set of boxes. These boxes, while they seemed simple, were used in a game where people would try to identify incenses. The people would bring their own incenses and the other members of the group would try to identify the incense and determine which one they liked the best. The set of boxes had a total of 148 of the Hosokawa family crests on the them.

There were also quite a few different samurai suits of armor at the exhibit. The suits of armor each took about a day to assemble, because they were so fragile and had to be put together carefully, due to the fact that they were held together by a large series of ceremonial knots, all elaborately and perfectly done.

There were also lots of paintings, scrolls, saddles, swords and tea equipment, but I liked the armor and the box the best. The exhibit is in the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco, and ends on September 20th.

No lesson today. We went to the lesson and my teacher never came, nor answered her cell phone. At least we got the gig book.

Coolness.

When I was doing music theory today, the coolest thing ever happened to me:
I was used as a punishment. One of the kids was being really annoying, talking, and other stuff. Not doing his work at all. Mrs. Murray (The theory teacher and head of the orchestra) told him that "Since you aren't doing your work, and am instead just talking, you are going to sit with Ian. Ian does not talk to you. He just sits there and does his work." I learned from my Dad well. He was there for about a half an hour, and I said not a word to him. Not one. He was drawing on the page, and when he did do some work, he did it out loud. Hard to focus when he is counting rhythm exersizes and you a trying do minor scales. Still, I thought it was awesome to be used as a punishment. I think my reputation in the group there actually went up, because the second cello came to want to sit with me.

Wow.

I haven't posted in a while, huh. Well, here is how the rest of my week is looking:

June 13: I am FINALLY in a quartet, but... I am the only guy in it. I meet them, get the gig book, and (?) practice it for the first time.

June 14: I have a recital with my teacher, her other student, her boyfriend and his students.

It's summer now! I'm done with my schoolwork! We have ACHIEVEMENTS for my summer vacation! AWESOME!!

On friday I got two new games: Super robot taisen OG saga endless frontier (In case you can't tell by the long name, it is a comedy) and pokemon platinum version.

Today I go to the dentist. Hopefully I have no cavities. It's Thursday. Where did the week go? I bet it grew a pair of legs and ran. Really fast.

Today I stay at home and do school.

Tuesday.

Today is tuesday. That means that, today, I run around everywhere with mom. We go to cello, then lunch, then bowling. And then back home. And then off again, this time to swimming.

The end of the week

Is near. Today I am going to do history and art.

Cool day today.

Today is, at the place my Dad works at, at least, take your children to work day. So, in traditional homschooler fashion, I am going with dad to work. Dad hasn't left his office here at home and done his work at the place he officially works at in months. They are even having an awesome program for the children, where I get to learn "Introduction to Java and Java FX" It'll be fun.

Today I spend the day at home doing school with dad, as Mom has to go to art class.

I can't think of a title. Give me three days.

Once again, I slept in today. Today is tuesday, meaning that today I have bowling and cello lesson.

Coolness.

Yesterday, In disgaea ds, I set out to get two of the five unlockable human characters that I am missing. The first was a samurai. Daaaang. Samurai = warrior x5. A samurai has S-rank in swords, lances, and axes, and better all-around stats. I'm keeping hector as a hero until I unlock the 6th teir warrior, but other than that, my sword warrrior, Ike, has been reincarnated as Lyn, a samurai. I also unlocked a rune knight, a spell-casting warrior. It will be interesting to see what will happen when I reincarnate ewan as a rune knight.

Today Thursday. Another good day of school, and writing an essay for Mom on the history movie that I watched yesterday, called the lion in winter, and comparing it to what I figured and understood from reading my history with what they portrayed those historical figures as. After that I watch kingdom in heaven.

I don't have to go anywhere today. Mom does, but I don't. That is good, because it means a good day of school. I haven't had one of those sense we got back from vacation. I can do history in the morning, and math in the afternoon.

Today is tuesday.

That means that today is run around everwhere day. To un-borify this day, I have decided to do a weapon guide of the weapon types in Disgaea DS, about their skills.

Swords:

Well balanced, has pretty much everything when it comes to abilities, able to fit in any attack formation.

Axes:

Low accuracy. High attack. Their low accuracy is actually negligible, even more so if you give them a pair of eyewear. Their abilites do a handful of hits, but are powerful. As they only attack one enemy, and most of them only need a target, they can fit anywhere.

Fists:

Deals damage with attack and speed. Their users will be very fast and have a lot of counters, and be able to use them a lot. Their specials move around the opponents, making it kind of hard to fit them into tight groups of enemies, but a lot easier if it is one on one.

Spears:

Can attack from one square away. The abilities of spears will move around their user a lot, giving them the same kind of tactical problems as fists.

Bows:

Deal damage with attack and hit. Bows have abilities that will inflict statuses upon the enemy, usually with multiple targets.

Guns:

Deals damage with hit. Guns have a great range, my only complaint about them is that the first two abilities that gun weilders have suck. Badly. Proximial shot is the start of good gun abilities.

Staves:

When used with spells, they increase the range and attacking power of the spells as your level with them goes up.

Monster weapons:

Monsters gain abilities based on their class, not their weapon.

what happened over spring break

Okay, so, I have not been active much on my blag recently, so here is a breakdown of my spring break:

Mon: Packed. Went to orchestra. Normal Monday, but with no school.

Tues: The fun begins. We leave, and drive up to yosemite. Takes about five hours. My happiness begins, as it is snowing. We get to the cabin and crash. I don't sleep very well.

Wed: Still snowing. We go around the area after a yummy breakfast. We get home and I play some twewy. Internet is soo slow there. That's the reason I haven't made a post in a while.

Thurs: Warming up. I switch to Disgaea DS, and we go exploring hetch hetchy. I get to the last level in disgaea. (Holy crap! Laharl is a god at level 70 with those items equiped!) Have to go to bed in the middle of the final cutscene.

Fri: Wake up. Beat the final boss in Disgaea DS, get the sad ending. For killing the final boss, Laharl goes up five levels. Created a new game+. Powered through the first 6 (Or was it 7?) chapters in the game. Were they that easy when I first started playing?

Sat: Went home. Yaaaaaaaaaayyy! Crashed at home. Slept.

Sun: TODAY IS SUNDAY! Fool.

Today will be busy.

I have cello today, and then art right after. I'll probably not have anything for lunch until around 2ish.

Okay,

Busy week. I can't believe it is thursday. But that means that game night is tonight, and tomorrow is both a cello lesson and art day.

Recovering

Today is a day of recovering from the star tests. Next week is spring break.

Okay,

Today is art day, and tomorrow is the weekend. That means that I can do whatever tomorrow (after we get home from theory) and Sunday (after I... Umm... wake up)

I'm feeling too tired recently. I don't fall asleep for a while, and when I do it does not last very long.

Dad has to go into work today, a rare thing.

On coming up with a unique title. Sigh. Anyway, Today is Monday, which means orchestra day. I hope that I have practiced Cellos Ole enough so that when it comes time for us to do it, I do it well. Cellos Ole is quite the hard piece, and I've spent most of the past week practicing it when I practice.

Today is not only art day, but I also get to go to a cello concert tonight.

WHY CAN'T I COME UP WITH A UNIQUE TITLE!?

Every time I try to come up with one, I have used it. Sometimes it can get extremely annoying. Like, really really. THAT'S IT! My lack of variety in my titles is just like a younger sibling. A really annoying younger sibling. So, I shall name my new younger sibling... Oliver.

I don't have to go ANYWHERE today. No where. At all. Yay.

Another busy day.

Today, we first have to go to my music lesson and go over a really, really hard piece that I have to work on, and then bowling. bowling + lesson = busy, but fun. Mom and I are actually going to have to bring something from home for lunch. However, we make good food, so it will not be bad at all.

Yugh.

I just invented a new word. Yugh. It is Yay and ugh. It can be used in a place where you do something worthy of yay followed by something worthy of ugh, or vice versa. In this case, I am the latter. It is ugh, because our ES is coming, followed by yay, because today is orchestra day, so, it is yugh.

Well,

Today is a yearbook meeting day and Art class. I get to hang out with Chris this weekend. I'll help him out with TWEWY and maybe show him more of fire emblem shadow dragon, in this case, the arena. And showing him a time-honored tradition of any good fire emblem game: arena abuse. What is arena abuse? Well, it is simple, really, It is the act of utilizing the arena to take all of your characters, good, bad, or in the middle, sticking them in the arena, and having a healer stand next to them and heal them. Great exp for both the healer, your character, and your wallet. Your wallet because you give a wager, and pay it if you lose or run away, but keep it if you win. I got one of my best characters, wolf, up to level 20 for it. I now have a monster that I can put in the front lines who take no damage from all enemy attacks that hit him that are not done with an armorslayer, hammer, magic, or in the arena. In the arena he only takes about 7-14 points, 14 if it is a warrior or berzerker with a silver axe. 7 if it is anything that is not a swordsmaster. 0 if it is a swordsmaster.

As usual for after a dentist appointment, my mouth hurts and aches. A lot. So much so that, as usual, I had oatmeal for breakfast. I hope to be better by Sunday-ish so that I can hang out with Chris.

I don't have any manga that Chris might like that he has not read. Well, crud. I went to the orthodontist's today. My braces got a heavier wire. My mouth hurts now. I have a cello lesson today, too.

Today is ochestra. This is, however, going to work a little differently then normal. You see, Mom is going to art class, and Dad is busy with work, so neither of them can take me to ochestra. However, Ethan, who just so happens to be in the same group, but not ochestra, as I am, (I am in the junior for GGP, he is in the senior) is still going to ochestra. Knowing that, Mom asked his mom if they could take me, and she said they could if I didn't mind going to Ethan's lesson. Mom knew that I didn't, so she said "Okay, thanks" and that was that.

Well,

Today I slept in really late. Until like, 8:50. I was really tired last night. Ah well. It appears that I am going to have to buy some stuff usable in free worlds in runescape so that I can hang out with chris and matt.

Today is game night. I'm most likely going to mostly play munchkin, sense Chris lost his moniter time (>.<)

Today is neither good nor bad. Today is zen. I hope to sleep like a cat. I doubt I'll be able to.

You see, the best man at my parent's wedding, Bret, whom we haven't seen in about nine years is coming over here to stay for a few days, today. We just have to pick him up in san francisco.

Today is wednesday. Tomorrow, I have to do some stupid thing for the stupid writing test.

Yay!

So, on friday I got a new game of awesome. I got the new fire emblem game, fire emblem: shadow dragon, a remake of the first fire emblem game. Compared to the other FE games, the party is HUGE. Like, 40+ characters when you get the last one. I love the system that it has: the reclassing system. For example, do you have those three cavaliers, and need a healer really badly? Well, you can just turn one of your cavaliers into a healer. The sheer number of characters gained is pretty cool, though. For example, early on in the game, you get a guy named Ogma. Ogma is a mercenary, and one of my best units. He joins the team with three characters that have no significance to the plot whatsoever: Bord, Cord, and Barst. These three are all fighters, one of the two basic types of axe wielders, the other one being a pirate. You really only have room on your team for one of the three. Personally, I picked Barst. I turned him into a pirate with the reclass system, and I later promoted him and he is now one of my best units: a berzerker. This is just an example. If you wanted to, you could turn one of your cavaliers into a myrmidon, who would later promote to a swordsmaster. So, to me, this game actually has more uniqueness to your characters than any other fire emblem game, because they can be anything you want. And one more thing. Never, ever use pre-promotes. Anyone that comes as a paladin, swordsmaster, sage, bishop, sniper, hero or horseman, with very few exeptions (Like wolf. Use him, he is awesome.), suck. horribly. There is one point in the prolouge where you have to sacrifice one unit to advance. Pick your pre-promote, Jagen.

Yesterday, I managed to tear apart my bed REALLY well. Even better than what I usually do to. I didn't just tear off the comferter blanket. I tore off the sheet on the bottom of the bed, as well. Dad said it was an A-. When I asked why it wasn't an A he said:

"The bed is still on the frame."

Feeling a lot better.

Now just a minor cough. Okay, not minor, but at least I am feeling better.

But almost better. I hope. My two volumes of death note came yesterday, earlier than I thoght. I finished them, of course. I'm not entirely sure if the ending is satisfying or not, though.

Cold still not gone. Voice is gone. Cold is in chest. Finally getting last two volumes of death note tomorrow.

I forgot to make a post yesterday. I feel like crap. I have a stuffy nose, and I am just plain not feeling too good.

The only thing that I have to leave the house for is at 1:00 pm.

Finally, I think I just found a title that is different from the other ones that I use, like "Yay" and "Well," etc. FINALLY. I've been sleeping in recently. Late. To the point of getting up at 9:00 am.

I ended up not making a post at all for yesterday, and I didn't make it to bowling. Sigh. Yesterday Dad went into work, and today he has jury duty, and because Mom has art class today, I am coming with her to art class. Meaning that I can work on my history essay while I'm there if I bring my laptop.

So, it appears that I am going to go to the chapel of all things nintendo this november. The nintendo world store, the biggest store in the world for nintendo stuff. I'm writing about this because, well, I had a really good idea for a post, and then lost it. OH YEAH! I am now studying ants for science, laungage arts, AND programming. I am programming an ant simulation, researching ants, and am going to write a scientific essay on ants. Mom says that you can only do this if you're homeschooled.

I don't have much titular varity. Anyway, today is game night. Yesterday I got a new pair of glasses. They are square and black. Mom says they make me look intelligent. I think I need to get used to their differences from my old ones, but they are cool.

Today is a cello day, but I'm wondering how well I'll do with my burn. Although, I did practice last night and it was fine, but still.

Today is bowling. I hope to do fairly well. I don't have much to say for today, it appears. Sigh. oh well. I will have fun at bowling, though. I am probably doing math again today. Quadratics are fun, but when you spend a ton of time doing just math but almost no anything else, it can get annoying.

Yesterday, I was stupid. I was doing a class on neon, and I was bending a piece of glass for my sculpture. I had just taken it out of the flame, and I was now trying to take out my blow hose. I touched it on the wrong spot, and I burnt myself. Ow. I now have a first-degree burn on my left index finger, and a little minor burn on my left thumb.

Today I am going to a beadmaking class in mountain view at 7:30 pm (So Mom and I are leaving at 5:00 pm to have dinner) and my pottery class in pacifica at the usual time. And then tomorrow is the weekend, and we put Oliver (my cello) back in the corner that he is usually in because we had to move stuff around out of that corner for a while.

Well,

Today I went to get my braces checked because I had something jabbing into my cheek. Nothing to worry about, just my cheek is sensitive. Now I have a reason to do the saltwater washes. Today we are getting the house cleaned. Oh, and dim sum during the chinese new year? Yummy.

Well,

Today is just a math day, for mom is going to art class. But that's okay, because quadratics are fun. A lot of fun. even if I can never remember the definintion of them (>.<) they are still fun to do.

It's already tuesday. Wow. Where'd last week go? Where'd yesterday go? I've already had my braces for two weeks. It feels longer. Maybe shorter. Time is a funny thing. Time flies like an arrow. I'm really just extending this now. Oh well. Maybe I should write about something tomorrow other then the fact that mom has art class. I'm not doing anything, after all.

For the first time sense xmas break, I actually have a cello lesson today. Yay! Also, because my teacher is moving, this is my last lesson at her house. I am joining a junior group, and I'll be practicing at the leader of that group's house from now on. Yay! Tomorrow I get my braces checked for stuff. I am still getting used to them, but I can eat everything that I can fit into my mouth. To a point. there are still some things that I am not allowed to eat. Like bagels. But those things will not be allowed while I have braces.

Happy uhm, weekend? Hmmm... what to write about... AH! I KNOW!

This week was actually fairly busy. For starters, president obama was elected on tuesday. And then on friday, it was the day of packages. I got my new laptop. YAY! It was a macbook. The new one. The reason I am so happy about it is because this is the first time my laptop is my laptop, not mom's old laptop or dad's old laptop. So I am sitting on the couch, writing on my laptop this entry, and getting better used the its keyboard.

Now, I decided to talk about my progress in the world ends with you next, so, here it is:

I actually unlocked both ultimate difficulty and chain 16. I have over 75% of all items, and I have 20% pin mastery. Currently, I am trying to gain hollow leg, and then I will try for the darklit planets, the best pins in the game. I am getting fairly skilled, and I can fight against taboo noise in joshua, day 7 on ultimate without any real trouble. I also know how to get more scaletite: you need one dark matter. Dark matter is a quest item using ten shadow matter, or one boss rarely drops it on ultimate. However, dark matter is dropped by ALL taboo noise on ultimate, with a default drop rate of less than 1 percent. Yes, it can be a pain. Actually, I want irregular note before I get the darklit planets, partially because a:

The two I need are the ones dropped from beat games master and shiki games master. I got to the top of pork city, the gatito floor, but then I found something annoying: two insanely powerful pig noise, one of which actually fights with you. Ugh.

What to post today? In all honesty, I don't know. Dad has a lot of meetings today. First one at like 7:00, then one at 9:00, and finally one at 10:00, so I'm going to be doing math for most of the afternoon, but other stuff until then. I don't know what yet. Mom is also going to art class.

Not only is today bowling day, but we were also watching the inaguaration for president Obama. Chris is bringing my death note back, along with two volumes of dragon drive and 2&3 of d. gray-man. I'm bringing four bleach and one suprise.

Rant 2, part 2

Continuing my rant...

However, there is another thing that is utterly pointless and makes no sense whatsoever, and that is the following: Most schools, virtual or not, consider handwriting proof of your learning. WTF!? So, you take people used to doing what is most conveniant, most likely typing it out, and you force them to hand write all of their essay? In my personal opinion, it makes no sense that handwriting is proof of your learning, because you can't learn anything from it besides hand-eye coordination, and with how popular videogames are these days, most kids already have exellent hand-eye coordination. So, I think handwriting is pointless, and I conclude my rant.

Rant 2, part 1

Yes, I did it. I'm ranting again. Oh no! EVERYONE RUN TO THE BUNKERS! IT'S STARTING! AHHHHHHH!

Today, I am actually ranting about something that I do not just dislike, I think is useless in our current state: handwriting. It is, in my humble opinion, virtually useless. The method of moving your hand to make letters is a long and difficult behavior, and erasing is harder, because you have to be much more careful. However, with a keyboard, it is as simple as pressing the delete key. There. it is gone. not even a trace. That is another of the reasons I think keyboards are better. In fact, the only thing I think handwriting is good for is as proof of identity. And that is only until keyboards with custom fonts are made. Then people can have a special custom font and keyboard, and sign with those. At least, that's what I think would be cool.

My rant is going to be written tomorrow. Why? Today I want to write about what I did over the weekend.

On Saturday, the trip to Marin was actually not as bad as I thought it would be. All we had to do was take in a few pictures. We then went to out favorite place to eat in the area there, and came home. On Sunday, we went to the LEGO store and I got a buncha legos, and the ones that I wanted that they didn't have were ordered online. Then, we went to the apple store. Mom got iwork, they got a new internet network, Dad got a collection of games so he doesn't have to play bridge on his computer anymore. (wth?) I got an expansion pack for my copy of age of empires III (play as the Japanese! The chinese! the Indians! Build wonders to age up!) And that's what we did this weekend.

Tomorrow is going to be busy. We are going to Marin county for ANOTHER art show that Mom is in. *sigh* And then we are going to take the xmas tree, because Mom does not like the idea of having an easter tree. I might do another rant next week. If I figure out the subject. Maybe traveling. Or something ridiculous.... AH! I know. I'll rant on... (bum da da dum) handwriting. Please note that I only rant about things that I hate, so yeah.... I do not like handwriting.

I have no idea what we are doing today. I know what I having for breakfast. I know I am doing school. I don't know what I am doing for school. I don't know what I am doing besides school, if anything. I just don't know. However, sometimes ignorance is bliss, so maybe I don't want to know...?

Rant 1, part 2

Welcome to part two of my first rant.

In all honesty, there is another thing that annoys me just as much as textspeak. What is that?
The general illiteracy of the internet. I'm talking about people who can't spell. People who make my eyes hurt. Every browser has a spellchecker, so why don't you use it, Eh? It annoys me mostly if they don't say something like "My english is bad" or "I have a reading disorder" because those are good reasons to not be able to spell. I'm talking about people who don't know how to spell, but don't know that, and people that don't care. I care about perfect spelling, so maybe I'm just being anal. But I really, really, really hate it that most people cannot spell. If I can't spell something, then I use a different word, I don't usually keep the word that I cannot spell. This is related to texting because, in my view, texting encourages the youth of our world to spell badly.

I am running out of stuff, so that's it for my first rant.

Rant 1, part 1

Welcome. Today, I am going to put up part 1 of my first rant.

Today, I am ranting about a virus. A... disease. But, this is different from ordinary diseases. For this one is sprouted from electronics. It is called... Texting. This disease is so bad, that it has spread across millions of teens everywhere, dominating their lives. Now, I am not ranting about texting in itself, I just think it's silly. Oh nooooo... what I am ranting about is something sprouted from texting. Textspeak. The act of reducing a word to the fewest keystrokes possible. I can almost, almost understand why they do it for texting. I have spent exactly one text message in my life, and it was about five words long. It took me almost two minutes. That is why I can almost understand it for texting. Almost. Why can't I exactly? Well, that is simple. They use it everywhere. Online. everywhere. It becomes how they spell words. Some of them I use, because they are useful. Stuff like lol, wtf, brb, those I use. The examples of what I hate, and what is making me rant in the first place: wut, u, ur, y, alrght, k, etc. Any and all methods of shortening words to a set that is easier and faster to type. That I hate. If you want to send a message, you may as well type it all in full. And that are why I hate texting and textspeak.

Winter break is almost over. I got a bunch of books, and we went to the bookstore last week. Yesterday was a pain, though. We had to hang pictures in the san francisco botanical library for the darwin exhibit celebrating darwin's 200th birthday. Mom's art class was picked to do the paintings for it, and she ended up having to do the scans for it.

Actually, it was a pain for mom, who had to do a ton of last minute changes. I had lucked out. Shortly after we got there, one of Mom's classmates brought her tall fire fighter stepson, who hung pictures, and his two daughters, who were little girls. Shortly after they arrived, I was given babysitting duty. I lucked out because of two reasons:

A: They didn't want me to read them a story, which was offered by one of the ladies there, so I didn't have to do that, or anything resembling entertaining them, either, because they could entertain themselves.

B: The real reason I was watching them is so that they did not run around and get in everyone's way. But, both girls were very well behaved, so I basically got an excuse to do virtually nothing, execept humor them with my (?) wisdom in the laws of physics, so that when they tried to pile up cushions and then sit on them, it would not fall over. It didn't work, and the cushion still fell over, but at least I tried.

As stated, I lucked out.

We left to get there at 8:45, and got there around 9-ish. We ended up leaving at 5-ish. Mom didn't even get to have anything to eat for lunch, she spent that entire time working. Worse yet, she says that if the librarian was there, she would STILL be working, even though it was 5:00!

I decided that tomorrow I am going to start the first part of a rant. For my sanity, I am most likely going to write 40 words every weekday. Every day I miss, the amount I need to write the next day doubles. So I am dividing the rant up into parts, like the smart alec I am. But, I found this thing on someone's sig online, I have to put it up.

Programming today is a race between engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots.

So far? I think the universe is winning.
