The field trip

So, we went to the Asian Art Museum as the first field trip of the school year today. We went to see, in particular, the samurai exhibit that they have right now. Mom is making me write an essay here, so here it is.

We went to The Lords Of The Samurai exhibit at the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco as a field trip today. The exhibit is a series of relics from one samurai family, to be exact, the Hosokawa family, to show the life a daimyo, or samurai lord. The family had a crest that consisted of eight small circles surrounding a central, larger one. Most, if not all of the items in the exhibit had the crest on them.

Of the items there, one thing that really caught my eye was a set of boxes. These boxes, while they seemed simple, were used in a game where people would try to identify incenses. The people would bring their own incenses and the other members of the group would try to identify the incense and determine which one they liked the best. The set of boxes had a total of 148 of the Hosokawa family crests on the them.

There were also quite a few different samurai suits of armor at the exhibit. The suits of armor each took about a day to assemble, because they were so fragile and had to be put together carefully, due to the fact that they were held together by a large series of ceremonial knots, all elaborately and perfectly done.

There were also lots of paintings, scrolls, saddles, swords and tea equipment, but I liked the armor and the box the best. The exhibit is in the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco, and ends on September 20th.

Wow.

I have a long way to go if I want to play this I can't even play this.

No lesson today. We went to the lesson and my teacher never came, nor answered her cell phone. At least we got the gig book.

Coolness.

When I was doing music theory today, the coolest thing ever happened to me:
I was used as a punishment. One of the kids was being really annoying, talking, and other stuff. Not doing his work at all. Mrs. Murray (The theory teacher and head of the orchestra) told him that "Since you aren't doing your work, and am instead just talking, you are going to sit with Ian. Ian does not talk to you. He just sits there and does his work." I learned from my Dad well. He was there for about a half an hour, and I said not a word to him. Not one. He was drawing on the page, and when he did do some work, he did it out loud. Hard to focus when he is counting rhythm exersizes and you a trying do minor scales. Still, I thought it was awesome to be used as a punishment. I think my reputation in the group there actually went up, because the second cello came to want to sit with me.

Wow.

I haven't posted in a while, huh. Well, here is how the rest of my week is looking:

June 13: I am FINALLY in a quartet, but... I am the only guy in it. I meet them, get the gig book, and (?) practice it for the first time.

June 14: I have a recital with my teacher, her other student, her boyfriend and his students.

Yay!

It's summer now! I'm done with my schoolwork! We have ACHIEVEMENTS for my summer vacation! AWESOME!!

Yay!

On friday I got two new games: Super robot taisen OG saga endless frontier (In case you can't tell by the long name, it is a comedy) and pokemon platinum version.
